11. Is there a less expensive way to ship my order?
We find the shipping costs that we have built into our site to be accurate for purchasing a box/bundle or two of wood flooring. However, when you start looking at 500 or 1000 Square Feet and Up, we can usually find a Common Carrier (LTL) who is cheaper because of the volume of business we do with them. This is also true for finish, sandpaper, and other supplies you may need to stock up on. To get freight quote on a high volume order please contact us.

20. What is the Janka Hardness Rating?
The Janka Hardness scale is the test used to determine how hard a piece of wood is. The test embeds a steel ball into a piece of wood until it is exactly halfway in. The amount of pressure (PSI) that it takes to insert the ball into the wood is the Janka Rating. It is one of the best measures of the ability of a wood species to withstand denting. One thing to keep in mind however, the hardness of a species will not protect against scratching (that is solely based on the finish that is on the floor).
